Within the Galileo Mission, DLR GfR mbH is responsible for Flight and Ground Operations as well as the Maintenance of the Ground Control and Mission Segment. The Training Team, located at the GCC-D in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, is handling all training matters of the teams involved in the before mentioned responsibilities. This includes the development of training concepts and training plans for the different roles (for Routine Operations and LEOP), providing those in a Training Management System (TMS), guiding the trainees through their training, following their progress in the TMS and leading them to their final certification. One essential task is also maintaining a database of all trainees within the projects.

As Working Student in the Training Team, you will support all Training Team processes and tasks, especially the maintenance of the existing tools as well as their further improvement.

After a familiarisation with the:
  • The Training Management System (TMS), based on Moodle
  • In-House Training Team Tool, based on Excel/Access/VBA
  • VBA code of the In-House Training Team Tool (guided by the developer)
Your main tasks would be:
  • Maintenance and further development of the In-House Training Team Tool
  • Supporting the Training Team with the maintenance of the trainee database
  • Supporting the Training Team with preparing data packages for the customer by generating of exports from the Training Team Tool
  • Supporting the Training Team with implementing training plans in the TMS
  • Exploring possibilities of an improved usage of the TMS


  • Student of a technical/engineering field
  • Very good programming skills
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to work in a team, independence, reliability and a high level of problem-solving skills
  • Availability to work 20 hours/week
  • Thorough experience in VBA (Excel/Access) optional
  • Experience with Moodle optional
  • Interest or knowledge in space engineering/systems
  • Good knowledge of the German language is an advantage
