DLR GfR mbH is a company providing reliable, safe and secure aerospace services. We operate and manage the constellation of Galileo satellites in the Galileo Control Center Oberpfaffenhofen on behalf of the European Commission. 
Our company headquarters is located in an area widely known as a holiday destination -  the five-lakes region in Upper Bavaria near Munich. As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator (GSOp), DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen (GCC-D), Germany.
We are looking for a talented Galileo System Engineer who can support us to refine our Systems Engineering approach and expand the business. In this position you will need a strong background and proven experience in System Engineering (preferably with knowledge of Galileo) as well as being well-versed in each stage of the systems life cycle.
Moreover, if you are passionate to find and develop techniques to manage a system efficiently and ensure new infrastructure elements can be integrated in a seamless manner, you are the ideal candidate to complement our team. A background in Software Architecture is also an advantage to help us integrate IT based solutions in to our overall service offerings.

You will assume the following duties:
  • Supporting design activities for new or enhanced services and systems
  • Analytical analysis to understand system impact of future activities
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams for system analysis
  • Evaluate systems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Propose solutions to enhance system capability
  • Requirement Management
  • Developing the company’s System Engineering capability


  • Master in engineering or equal certificates
  • Previous experience in System Engineering or System Architecture
  • Solid understanding of system engineering fundamentals and best practices with knowledge of contemporary system engineer techniques
  • Excellent coordination skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Preferable to have knowledge of navigation systems (preferably Galileo)
  • Service oriented and problem solution working style
  • Fluent German and an advanced level of English is mandatory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
