DLR GfR mbH is a company providing reliable, safe and secure aerospace services. We operate and manage the constellation of Galileo satellites in the Galileo Control Center Oberpfaffenhofen on behalf of the European Commission.
Our company headquarters is located in an area widely known as a holiday destination - the five-lakes region in Upper Bavaria near Munich. YOUR MISSION:

Main objective of the role is supporting operational services spread across the Galileo Centres as well as to assure the Service Delivery in compliance with the Service Levels Agreements. The role requires liaising effectively across all teams and with other GSOp teams, Design Authority teams (ESA and Industry) and Customer representatives (EUSPA).

Main tasks are as follows, to be executed in agreement with the indications of the Head of SDM:

  • Coordination of system and segment operation as well as the service engineering team
  • Coordination of technical and operational topics with lower tier operations managers
  • Ensuring engineering of operations associated to system, segment and service evolutions
  • Overall system and service validation including overall planning, execution and reporting
  • Plan and coordinate overall system migration and service transition
  • Maintaining system and service knowledge and information
  • Coordination of provisions from external suppliers (tools, minor GIR, etc.)
  • Support of continual service and operations documentation improvement
  • Support system configuration management
  • Preparation, validation, and authorisation of procedures
  • Test and validation of operations before and after launch of a satellite
  • Ensure reporting to the customer

YOUR QUALIFICATION:

  • University degree (Bachelor or higher degree) in Engineering, preferably in Aerospace
  • Proven working experience in space industry, space operations or satellite services
  • Good knowledge on satellite systems (subsystem as minimum)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fast decision making in case of service impacting problems
  • Ability to work in intercultural and geographically distributed work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player skills
  • Available for travels to operator’s/SSEG sites as required
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Fluency in standard office automation tools (MS Office, Email, Internet, etc.)

It will be necessary to periodically spend time at our office in Italy (Fucino) and Spain (Madrid) and to occasionally travel for meetings/colocations to other relevant project locations within Europe.
