DLR GfR mbH is a company providing reliable, safe and secure aerospace services. We operate and manage the constellation of Galileo satellites in the Galileo Control Center Oberpfaffenhofen on behalf of the European Commission.
Our company headquarters is located in an area widely known as a holiday destination - the five-lakes region in Upper Bavaria near Munich. YOUR MISSION:

As part of the L2/L3 Ground Segment Maintenance team, you will support the management, control, and evolution of technical and operational documentation related to the Galileo Ground Segment. Your role will focus on centralizing and streamlining the documentation lifecycle, ensuring consistency, traceability, and quality. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Manage document versioning for L2/L3 maintenance documentation
  • Integrate updates received from Ground Segment teams and consolidate them with maintenance-specific versions
  • Coordinate and manage new document releases, ensuring correct version control and traceability
  • Centralise the documentation workflow, from reception of segment versions to integration, consolidation, and release
  • Prepare documentation packages as an input for formal review by the Product Assurance (PA) team
  • Ensure compliance with defined documentation standards, naming conventions, and workflows
  • Track document status, changes, open actions, and approvals
  • Support reporting activities related to documentation status and releases
  • Propose process improvements and potential automation solutions related to documentation management
  • Liaise with Software Development teams to propose the implementation of tooling or automation improvements
  • You will gain practical experience in documentation management within a highly regulated, safety-critical space programme and work closely with engineering, operations, quality, and assurance teams
  • There are strong prospects for transitioning to a permanent position after the internship period, based on performance and team needs

YOUR QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree student (or recent graduate) in Information and Documentation Management, Communication, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interest in documentation management, configuration control, and structured processes
  • Good level of English (reading and writing), essential for working with international documentation
  • Highly organized, methodical, and detail-oriented, with a structured approach to work
  • Ability to understand complex technical documentation and workflows
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple teams
  • Capable of working independently and responsibly to meet deadlines
  • Motivation to learn and contribute to process improvement initiatives

PREFERABLE: 
Basic knowledge or interest in:  

  • Configuration management and document control (database basics is a plus)
  • Software or system lifecycle processes

Experience or interest in:  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Document management tools (e.g., version control systems, collaborative platforms)
  • Process definition and optimization
  • Curiosity for space programmes, large-scale systems, and international projects
  • Analytical mindset and continuous improvement attitude
