YOUR MISSION:

As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator (GSOp), DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany (GCC-D) and maintains the European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) in Madrid (Spain).

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be supporting L2 maintenance engineers to perform corrective, preventive, adaptive and perfective maintenance activities for the Galileo maintenance, validation, and operational environments.

The chosen applicant will carry out the following system administration and supporting activities for the GNSS Service Centre (GSC):
  • Monitoring and system administration of the L2 maintenance environment
  • Support to the L2 maintenance platform set-up and upgrading
  • Support to the L2 back office team with logs collection, assistance to remote troubleshooting and deployments
  • On-Site coordination and interfacing with OPS/L1 teams
  • Support the L2 engineers with validation, and update of L2 procedures and manuals
  • Support the L2 engineers in analysing and fixing infrastructure problems

YOUR QUALIFICATION:

  • A professional training or equivalent with at least 2 years experience in system administration
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in the administration and troubleshooting of IT systems
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Linux environments and VMware vSphere
  • Familiar with ticketing systems at a user level
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Familiar with network concepts (routing, switching, VLANs and firewalls)
  • Familiar with Databases Management (Oracle/MySql/PostgresDB)
  • Self-learner
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with team members
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural, dynamic, and challenging environment
  • Willingness to travel
