YOUR MISSION:
As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator (GSOp), DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany (GCC-D).
As a Constellation Shift Lead you will be responsible for the performance of tasks in the Galileo shift operation team and will assume the following duties:
- Monitor and control on a 24/7 shift basis the GCS Ground segment and other Galileo systems
- Monitor and control on a 24/7 shift basis the GMS Ground segment (nominally as backup, as prime only in case of unplanned GMS H/O scenario)
- Service continuity support in case of GCS operations activation in GCC-I (Italy), for planned or unplanned events
- Assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations
- In case of ground or space segment anomaly, be responsible for first line support to taking corrective action, as necessary, applying the relevant contingency/emergency procedures approved for the mission to ensure safety of the spacecraft and the continuity of service provision
- Be responsible for informing the on-call personnel when a major or critical anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures and chain of command
- Participate to other operations-related activities upon request from the Team Leader, for example support in shifts planning and replanning, procedures review and maintenance, internal documentation and working instructions development and maintenance, internal coordination meeting attendance, training material development and maintenance, training of new trainees etc.
YOUR QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree or comparable qualification with relevant professional experience preferably in IT or Telecommunications domain
- Ideally 4 or more years of experience in an Operations environment, preferably with experience working directly with spacecraft/satellites
- Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy
- Knowledge of databases (i.e. Oracle, MySQL, Access) and Java / XML
- Methodical, disciplined and comfortable in working strictly following procedures
- Able to work fully autonomously and under pressure in an operations environment
- Able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress during potential contingencies
- Willing to work in an Operation Team on a 24/7 shift rotation pattern basis, with related on-call availability
- Team-player attitude and flexibility to adapt to the short-term changes to the shift plan
- Fluent English is required for communications via email, phone and over the operational loop
